The 2018 Governor's Games for Girls Basketball Tournament under the direction of the Louisiana Governor's Council on Fitness and Sports will be held on Father's Day Weekend, June 16-17, 2018, in Opelousas, Louisiana.
Mr. Rudy Macklin, Director and the local host, Claiborne Sparks, look forward to having you all participate and join them for this year's tournament.

Claiborne Sparks, Inc. is proud to announce that it has awarded Ms. Ivy Cains, a 2017 Claiborne Sparks, Inc. Scholarship.
Ms. Cains is the daughter of Dieadra and Ivory Cains.
Ivy graduated from Opelousas High School and will be participate in the Interdisciplinary Studies Program at the University of New Orleand with a double major in English and Business.
Ivy attended Opelousas Senior High School and Westminster christian Academy in St. Landry Parish for her secondary education. While at Westminster christian Academy, she was a member of the National Honors Society, Yearbook staff, and the Varsity Track Team.
Opelousas Senior High School provided her the opportunity to continue to pursue excellence and give back tothe community. She served on the Mayor's Youth Council of Opelousas and volunteers in the nursery at OUr Savior's Church.
Ms. Cains' outstanding academic accolades include having a 3.9 GPA. She took Advanced Placement Coursework in Latin, English, Biology, and U.S. History.
Ms. Cains' athletic accomplishments include being a four-year State Champion Hurdler for Class 2A. Ivy was also a member of the 400 Meters Relay Team.
Opelousas Senior High Principal Rodney Johnson speaks highly of Ms. Cain stating that she has been an asset to the school, the community, and will continue this positive attribute on the collegiate level as well, for she knows "quality is not an option, but is a standard."
Claiborne Sparks, Inc.'s scholarship purpose is to assist and enhance the post-secondary educational development of St. Landry Parish female student-athletes. It recognizes that these students are a part of the future of the community. The scholarship will allow them tofurther their education no matter their educational pursuit.
Claiborne Sparks, Inc. wishes Ms. Cains continued success and the fulfillment of her academic and athletic pursuits at the University of New Orleans.
Claiborne Sparks is pleased to announce that Ms. Hillary May is a recipient of one of three scholarships offered by its organization for 2015.
Ms. Hillary May, a graduate of Westminster Christian Academy, under the leadership and guidance of Principal Myra Baker, is our first recipient.
Ms. May graduates with a 3.55 GPA and plans on attending the University of Louisiana at Monroe and seeks a degree in biolory. She will then pursue her Masters in Dentistry from LSU and plans on becoming an orthodontist.
Ms. May's student involvementincludes serving on the Student Council as Vice-President, and ofrmerly as a class vice-president, and a class secretary throughout her years at Westminster Christian Academy. Other student activities were Crusaders for Life, the Lafayette Junior Leadership, Rotary Interact, the Mission Team, and the Youth Leadership Council.
Ms. May's athletic life at Westminster included volleyball, softball, and track.
She is the daughter of Dequietter Anderson and Rodney May.
Ms. Julia Larcarde
Claiborne Sparks continue to give back to the community! It's second recipient of one of three scholarships in 2015 is Ms. Julia Lacarde.
Ms. Larcarde will be graduating from Opelousas Catholic where Mr. Perry Fontenot serves as principal.
Ms. Larcarde is a member of the National Honors Society and the Beta Club. She holds a 3.89 GPA and plans on attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She will be pursuing a degree in business.
Ms. Larcarde, as a basketball player, is a former All Honorable, 2nd Team All District, and 2nd Team All Parish member. Her track accolades include being a Regionals Qualifier in the High Jump as well as a Regionals Qualifier in the 4x2 and the 4x4. She also serves on the Pep Squad at Opelousas Catholic.
She is the daughter of Donnie and Haley Larcade.
